Montessori Summer Camp

Summer Camp at Aquinas Montessori School
A Season of Discovery, Friendship, and Joy

Give your child a summer to remember at Aquinas Montessori School’s Summer Day Camp! Located on a beautiful wooded campus in Alexandria, Virginia, our Montessori summer camp offers children ages 3–12 a unique blend of hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, and joyful experiences guided by professionally trained Montessori teachers.

A Montessori Summer Camp That Nurtures Growth and Curiosity

Each morning, campers engage in meaningful, age-appropriate activities inspired by the Montessori method. Our thoughtfully prepared classrooms invite children to explore key areas of child development, including:

  • Language and literacy
  • Mathematics and problem-solving
  • Biology and nature study
  • Geography and social studies
  • Art, music, and creative expression

Children are supported by experienced Montessori educators who foster independence, concentration, and a love of learning in a peaceful, respectful environment.

Outdoor Play, Nature Discovery, and Gardening

Our spacious, wooded campus provides endless opportunities for fresh air and free play. Campers enjoy time on our shaded playground and explore our vibrant Children’s Garden, where they harvest fruits and vegetables planted during the school year. These homegrown ingredients are used for snacks and cooking activities, helping children develop practical life skills and a connection to the natural world. The nearby pollinator garden and milkweed patch attract butterflies, bees, and other fascinating creatures—offering real-life encounters with the ecosystems studied in class.

Daily Swimming in a Child-Friendly Pool

A highlight of our Montessori summer program is daily swimming in our on-site, child-friendly pool. With a shallow entry and depth ranging from 2.5 to 5 feet, it’s perfect for beginner and developing swimmers. Supervised by a certified lifeguard, campers build confidence and skills in the water. Children who are still learning to swim safely wear life vests until they’re ready to swim independently.

Please send a lunch in a lunch box with your child's name on it. No refrigerators or microwaves are available for use for camper’s lunches.

Children staying after 3:00 should pack an extra snack for aftercare.

All camp attendees must be able to utilize the bathroom facilities independently.

My children loved being at Aquinas Summer Camp last summer. They loved being outside for most of the day playing among the shade trees and having the swimming pool right there. I honestly can't imagine a better place to spend the summer in the Alexandria area.
