AQUINAS & OLD TOWN MONTESSORI SCHOOLS - Alexandria, VA
Social Events
We enjoy being together as a community of students, parents, educators, and alumni at our Montessori schools in Alexandria, Virginia. To support our connections, we host a variety of social events including back-to-school classroom picnics, our fall festival October Fete, and our biggest celebration of the year May Fete, which centers around a new theme every year. Past themes include Mount Vernon Colonial Days, Jungles of the World, Fiesta, Middle Ages, Islands of the World, and Renaissance Days.
Parent Classroom Volunteers
Parents enjoy supporting the school by volunteering to help with in-class celebrations like pumpkin days, winter holiday parties, and end-of-year field days at both Old Town Montessori in Alexandria and Aquinas Montessori near Mount Vernon.
Parents also visit our classes to share information about holidays, cultural celebrations, and hobbies.

School Support Volunteers at Aquinas
Parent volunteers help to organize and label books in our school library. Parents also provide invaluable support by volunteering in our school garden. We host two Big Dig evening social events where families come to help us prepare our gardens for the fall and spring growing seasons. Parents also come during the school day to collaborate with children in the garden or volunteer on weekends to help us complete gardening projects.
Elementary Community Service Projects
Our Elementary Montessori students in Alexandria (ages 6–12) organize and lead service projects that support our school and our larger community. Some past projects include Reading Buddies, food drives for United Community, visiting local nursing homes, and sponsoring bake sales to support endangered animals.
