Closings and Delays

There will be no announcement when schools are open and operating on a regular schedule. All students will report to schools at the regularly scheduled time. When inclement weather is forecasted, please remember to check your email for announcements concerning school closings/late openings.

Aquinas Montessori School (Mount Vernon Campus)

Typically, we follow Fairfax County Public Schools’ closing decisions. However, in extraordinary circumstances, the Head of School reserves the right to override this policy. In these cases, the information will be communicated through emails and our website. We usually differ from FCPS on closings when FCPS is closed or delayed due to bitterly cold weather or plowing/accessibility issues on their many campuses. As our student body is able to come to school by car and we have a smaller campus to plow, we can be open in some of these circumstances. When school is closed, all student-related programs will be canceled for the day.

When there is a weather delay, classes begin at Aquinas at 10:00 am. Early care is closed. Arrival in our driveway begins at 9:45 am.

When Fairfax County Public Schools announce an early closing, we will notify families of our closing time. In the case of an early closing, After School Care and after school activities for the Mount Vernon campus will be canceled.

Old Town Montessori School (Old Town Campus)
The Old Town campus follows school closing policies decided by Alexandria City Public Schools, except in very rare circumstances. When school is closed, all student-related programs will be canceled for the day.

When there is a weather delay, classes begin at Old Town at 10:00 am. Families may drop off children beginning at 9:45 am.

When Alexandria City Public Schools announce an early closing, the Old Town campus will notify families of our closing time. After School Care and after school activities for the Old Town campus will be canceled.
